Request for Breakout Session Proposals

Showcase How Your District is Innovating with AI
at IASA’s 2027 Regional Events

For the past two years, IASA has helped school and district leaders explore how artificial intelligence can strengthen leadership, streamline operations and give educators valuable time back. Now it’s time for the next question: What does AI actually look like in the learning experiences of our students?

IASA invites educators, school leaders and district teams to help answer that question by submitting breakout session proposals for AI in Action: From Possibility to Student Impact, our 2027 regional AI events.

We’re looking for real stories, real applications and real learning. Whether your district is just beginning or has developed innovative practices, we want to hear what you’ve tried, what’s working and what you would do differently.

2027 Event Locations

March 9: Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, Normal

March 10: John A. Logan College, Carterville

March 17: NIU Naperville, Naperville

From Exploration to Implementation

Across Illinois, schools and districts are moving from exploration to implementation, finding new ways to personalize learning, spark creativity, deepen engagement and prepare students for a world increasingly shaped by AI.

The question is no longer simply how much technology students use. It’s how intentionally it’s used, and how it meaningfully enhances learning.

If your school or district is putting AI into action strategically, please submit a proposal for a chance to share with your peers at an upcoming regional event.

Topic areas for proposals:

  • AI in the Classroom: Using AI to enhance instruction and personalize learning, with observable impact on students
  • Students as Creators, Thinkers and Innovators: Student use of AI for creativity, inquiry and problem-solving
  • Technology with Purpose: Shifting the conversation from screen time to learning impact, including engaging families
  • Preparing Students for an AI-Driven Future: AI literacy, career readiness and digital citizenship
  • Rethinking Assessment: Academic integrity and authentic demonstrations of learning
  • Leading Responsible AI Integration: Policy, data privacy, equity and staff readiness
  • Lessons from the Field: Implementation stories, challenges and evidence of impact

What Makes a Strong Proposal

The strongest sessions show actual implementation, include student work or evidence of impact, share both successes and challenges, and give participants practical strategies to take back to their districts. We especially encourage collaborative presentations featuring district leaders, classroom educators and, when appropriate, students.

Session Details

Breakout sessions are 45 minutes. Presenters may choose one, two or all three locations. Full guidelines are available on the submission page.
