Greetings from the WDA.
This year, in an effort to involve persons of influence and power in the growth and development of Denturisim, we want to have as many of you as possible invite your legislators into your offices. These types of visits can go a long way toward helping legislators understand what Denturists do and how they fit into the community dental provider networks. The more they know and understand how Denturists like you help their constituents, the easier it will be to have them help us when it comes to funding and legislation.
We will want to not only talk to legislators about what Denturists do, but also want to talk to them about the following:
- Our issues with local insurance companies recognizing Denturists
- What our industry needs in terms of training and education programs
- The need for growth in the profession and greater recognition as an important health care provider in Washington State
We need our legislators to know the value of our work to our communities. We need more people, educators, and students to know about Denturists as a profession. We need them to know about Bates and American Denturist College, and we need to get a stronger foundation for the future of our industry.
By working together on educating our Legislators, we can have a powerful impact. Once we have a list of Denturists willing to host their Legislators, I will work with the WDA team to help coordinate these meetings.
Once you have the meeting, we will need feedback – whether good or bad – on how the meeting went and what questions or issues Legislators had.
It is best if these meetings happen before the Legislative Session starts in January. If you can’t do it before then, please plan to host a meeting after the session ends in April. We also urge you to attend the WDA Day at the Capitol (Save the Date for Tuesday, February 4, 2025) to meet your legislators in Olympia as well as in your office.
Let us know by November 10 if you are willing to host your Legislators in your office (email office@wadenturist.com)!
Thank you,
John Unsicker
President, WDA
