DOE Visiting Faculty Program
The Department of Energy has a new unique research opportunity for STEM faculty at Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). The Faculty-Applied Clean Energy Sciences (FACES) Program is a joint-effort by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), the Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Justice and Equity (EJE) and Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) that aims to promote diversity and inclusion in the energy sector and help faculty inspire STEM students to pursue careers in clean energy. The program is designed to bridge the gap between the research happening at DOE laboratories and the broader academic community, while providing structured content that can be seamlessly incorporated into existing classroom lessons.
DOE is searching for faculty members from MSIs across the country. Over the course of this 10-week program (8 weeks will be on-site, 2 weeks virtual), faculty will partner with NREL staff on the development of scalable education modules on topics like community engagement, human behavior, energy and environmental science, and artificial intelligence. Participants will receive $1,800 per week for the duration of the program, along with a travel reimbursement.
The deadline to apply is February 15, 2024. More information and a link to the application can be found here. Prospective participants are encouraged to join the FACES Program Townhalls every Friday until February 9th to get their questions answered.
