Volunteers needed!


Join Golden Hills at the greenhouse in Dodge Hall at Iowa Western in Council Bluffs on Tuesday, December 16th from 5:30-7:00 to help sort the prairie seed we harvested this year, and prepare to plant for our plant sale next spring.


We’ll organize and do some basic processing/cleaning, then start planting some of the species that require longer cold stratification.

Bank stabilization webinar on Thursday

Join Golden Hills for a free Streambank Stabilization Webinar this Thursday, December 11th, from 10:30am-11:30am.


Many streambanks in western Iowa's deep loess soil region have severe to extreme streambank erosion. Bank stabilization is the process of restoring banks to a more natural condition. Learn about successful projects here in western Iowa and how you can restore streambanks on your property.


Speakers include John Thomas, former Hungry Canyons Alliance Program Director, and Adam Rupe with JEO Consulting Group.

LoHi Trek registration opens December 15

The 2026 LoHi Trek will take place in the northern and central Loess Hills April 8th through 12th.


For this sixth annual event, we're heading back to the area of the first-ever Trek in 2021, including parts of Woodbury and Monona counties.


Registration opens to the public on Monday, December 15th at 5:00pm at
