Rescue Remedy for Anxiety and Stress
Bach Flower Remedies are also known as flower essences
Hello,
Wow, we sure had a one, two punch the past couple weeks. I hope you all fared ok. I did very well and will not complain about some of the minor issues.
When we have one stressor after another stressor, we can find ourselves in a perpetual fight flight mode. This means you are pumping a lot of stress hormones. Those of you with an existing anxiety issue may find that the anxiety has intensified over the past few weeks. You may find that your usual anxiety treatment is not quite doing the job. In this case, I find that the Bach flower combination, Rescue Remedy, can be extremely helpful to reduce the breakthrough anxiety.
If you do not normally experience anxiety, but feel it creeping in, Rescue Remedy can be very helpful in balancing emotions.
Bach flower remedies are very similar to homeopathic medicines but are not quite the same. I do love them because, as with homeopathy, there are no drug interactions and no negative side effects from taking Bach flowers.

Bach Flower Remedies are also known as flower essences. They are a powerful, effective, and side-effect free way to treat imbalances in emotions and negative mental states without the use of pharmaceuticals. Dr Bach believed that all physical symptoms that a person experiences originated as in imbalance of emotions. He also concluded that by balancing the emotions, the physical symptoms will disappear.
There are 38 individual flower essences that address seven different emotional aspects of a person. These seven groups include fear, uncertainty, insufficient interest in present circumstances, loneliness, over-sensitivity to influences and ideas, despondency/ despair, and over-care for the welfare of others at the expense of oneself.
How do the remedies work? The Bach Flower Remedies® are a safe and natural method of healing. They gently restore the balance between mind and body by casting out negative emotions, such as fear, worry, hatred and indecision which interfere with the equilibrium of the being as a whole. The Bach Flower Remedies® allow peace and happiness to return to the sufferer so that the body is free to heal itself.
How are the Bach Flower Remedies made? The Bach Flower Remedies® are made 100% naturally from spring water infused with wildflowers, either by the sun-steeped method or by boiling. The Remedies contain 27% grape based brandy as a preservative.
How do I take the Bach Flower Remedies®? There are two ways to take the Bach flowers. If you feel like you have had high anxiety for more than a couple of days and it has become sort of chronic, take 4 drops 4 times a day until relief is obtained. Take the first dose upon waking in the morning, take the last dose when going to bed for the night, and take the other two doses at regularly spaced intervals in between.
Another way to take it is just as needed. If you have been fine and all of a sudden you are feeling anxiety rise, take four drops of Rescue Remedy. If after ten minutes, you don’t feel better, take another four drops. Wait another ten minutes and repeat if necessary. Usually, you won’t need more than two doses at any given time. You can take additional doses of 4 drops each as needed throughout the day for strong emotional imbalance. Take the remedies away from strong substances such as coffee, tea, alcohol, mints, gum and toothpastes as these can interfere with the effectiveness of the remedies.
Bach Flower Remedies® and Children. Children respond very well to the Bach Flower Remedies®. The Bach Flower Remedies® are extremely helpful for all childhood emotions, such as shyness, tantrums, fear, nightmares and low self-esteem. The Bach Flower Remedies® help children reach a balance in themselves, so that they can learn from life's ups and downs.
Bach FlowerRemedies® for Pets. Our pets also have emotions and the Bach Flower Remedies® are very helpful in aiding our pets to overcome difficult times. The Bach Flower Remedies® have been very successful in calming hyperactive dogs, fearful cats, newly arrived puppies and many other pet emotions. When I moved from Florida to Washington to go to graduate school, I had three cats. I did not have a place to live before moving out there, so I had three cats in the car for an entire month. Needless to say, they were extremely stressed.
The first day, I gave the cats the tranquilizer from the vet. Oh boy, my cats, especially Chico, were not happy. They fought the tranquilizer so hard. Pressing their faces onto the crate door, tongues hanging out, meowing like they were being tortured. It was horrible and it was only the first day. So, the second day, I knew I needed a different approach. I found a health food store and purchased some Rescue Remedy. I put four drops in the cat’s water. I also rubbed a few drops on the hairless side of the ear, not in the ear hole, and a few drops on the cat’s gums. After about 10-15 minutes, the cats curled up in their kennels and slept while we traveled. Day two was such a better experience. We continued to use the rescue remedy during our trip with good success. I threw away the tranquilizers from the vet.
What happens if I take too much of the Remedies? It is impossible to overdose with the Bach Flower Remedies®, they are 100% natural and safe. You can drink a whole bottle of Remedies and not "overdose.". However, if you think that "more is better" you are wrong. The Bach Flower Remedies® work best over a period of time, taken from the treatment or stock bottle at least 4 times a day.
What happens if I take the wrong Remedy? Nothing is going to happen if you take the wrong Remedies, the Remedies only work on the energy level that we are having problems with. For example, if you have a "known fear" (MIMULUS) and take ASPEN "unknown fear", nothing is going to happen. Your "known fear" will stay and ASPEN wouldn't do anything to you. When you take the wrong Remedy, nothing happens.
What is Rescue® Remedy? Dr. Bach created an emergency combination of Remedies which he called Rescue Remedy®. It contains five different Remedies: Star of Bethlehem, Clematis, Impatiens, Cherry Plum and Rock Rose.
• Impatiens: For undue agitation.
• Star of Bethlehem: For trauma and shock, whether experienced recently or in the past.
• Cherry Plum: For loss of self-control and hysteria.
• Rock Rose: For situations in which one experiences panic or terror.
• Clematis: For faintness or unconsciousness.
This combination of Bach Flower Remedies is especially beneficial when you find yourself in traumatic situations, such as stress, emergencies, after getting bad news, before an exam or job interview and all other kinds of situations where we suddenly lose balance mentally. The Remedies quickly get us back in balance so that we can deal with any situation in a calm, focused and relaxed manner.
On occasions when you are stressed and your mind is over-active, take a dose or two of Rescue® Remedy in the evening before going to sleep.
Many people chose to carry Rescue Remedy® in their purse, in the first aid kit, at the office, in the car or in the diaper bag. You never know when you need it to help you deal with an emergency or everyday stress.
Rescue Remedy is a great starting point for sudden emotional imbalance. However, we can make a personalized formula using a combination of several of the 38 Bach flowers if the Rescue Remedy does not seem to be helping you. Rescue Remedy is available on the fullscript.com website, or any health food store. I’m sure Amazon carries it and possibly even Walgreens or CVS. In addition to the first aid homeopathic medicines we talked about over the summer, I always have a bottle of Rescue Remedy in my first aid kit.
