Greetings!
Research Forest Drive now open
San Jacinto River Authority and Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack’s Office completed a walkthrough of the Research Forest Drive road repairs Monday afternoon and have reopened Research Forest to through traffic.

Research Forest Drive eastbound lanes between Technology Forest Drive and New Trails Drive had been shut down since a water pipeline burst underneath the pavement Sept. 13. The SJRA and its contractors worked diligently over the past month to repair the water line and repave the road, completing the project earlier than anticipated.
Juvenile American Alligators have joined our Animal Ambassador Team!
Once endangered, the American Alligator has rebounded in the wild thanks to conservation efforts. As apex predators, adult alligators perform important biological control to keep our wetlands healthy, such as eating invasive rodents like nutria. Visit the Nature Center to learn more about the importance of alligators here in Texas.

Road Projects
Traffic shift coming to Rayford Road

Within the next several days, crews with the Rayford Road widening project will begin shifting traffic to just one lane in each direction from Fox Run Boulevard to Legends Reach Drive. This is to allow the contractor space to install the final stretch of drainage pipes in this area. Use caution while driving through the construction zone and please adhere to the safety signage and speed limit.
Crews are making great progress on the Union Pacific Railroad Bridge. The contractor has started pouring concrete for the eastbound lanes on the bridge.

The contractor also plans to lay the final 2 inches of asphalt from east of Rayford Bend to the DD6 bridge, weather permitting.
  • Crews are laying asphalt between Brookchase Drive and Fox Run Boulevard.
  • The contractor is installing the new underground storm drainage system on the eastbound side of Rayford Road between the Fox Run Boulevard and the Grand Parkway. Once this section is complete, nearly all of the new drainage system associated with the Rayford Road project will be installed.
  • Crews installed a guardrail on the westbound side of Rayford Road from just west of Imperial Oaks Boulevard to Lauri Lynn Drive.
Alternating Lane Closures as Needed:

  • Eastbound and westbound temporary lane closures will occur Monday through Saturday, as needed, from Richards Road to the Grand Parkway for the duration of the project.

Thank you for your patience while construction crews continue to work as quickly and safely as possible. We recognize that construction can cause inconveniences, and we appreciate your understanding during this process. Please follow all road signs, pay attention to barriers and watch for crew members in the right of way.

Plan ahead, stay alert and drive safely!
