FAU Professors Receive Latin Grammy Nomination for Album Recording and Production
Alejandro Sánchez-Samper and Matt Baltrucki of the Department of Music have received their fifth Latin Grammy nomination for the album “Milonguín,” a project featuring the Giovanni Parra Quinteto with original works by Colombian bandoneonist and composer Giovanni Parra. READ MORE

Theatre Lab Receives Seven Carbonell Award Nominations
Theatre Lab has been recognized with seven Carbonell Award finalist nominations, highlighting the company’s excellence in new work development and theatrical artistry. The Carbonell Awards, South Florida’s most prestigious regional theater honors, celebrate artistic achievement across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Winners will be announced at the 49th annual Carbonell Awards ceremony on Monday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at FAU’s University Theatre. READ MORE

Florida Atlantic University Joins Neuroarts Academic Network
Florida Atlantic has joined the newly launched Neuroarts Academic Network (NAN), recently announced by the NeuroArts Blueprint Initiative. NAN is a global initiative aimed at expanding the transformative power of the arts – such as music, dance, painting and storytelling – by building the emerging interdisciplinary field of neuroarts and training the next generation of leaders. The Tokat Institute for Advanced Islamic Studies
Michael Rapoport, Associate Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Department of Languages and Linguistics, and Provost’s Fellow for Academic Affairs, has been awarded the Tokat Institute for Advanced Islamic Studies’ Inaugural Article Prize for his paper on Fakhr al-Din al-Razi. READ MORE

Tampa Bay Theatre Festival
Gretchen Suárez-Peña’s (Assistant Professor of Stage and Screenwriting, Department of Theatre and Dance) play "Epiphany," about political polarization within one Florida Family, won the 2025 Tampa Bay Theatre Festival (TBTF) prize. Suárez-Peña is a three-time TBTF winner. Past wins include "Searching for Abuelo" in 2023 and "Conversations in the Car" in 2018. READ MORE

Nicholas Baima, Associate Professor of Philosophy, recently coedited a special issue of “Ancient Philosophy Today: Dialogoi” on ancient philosophy and the ethics of belief. The “ethics of belief” examines the moral dimensions of what and how we believe—especially how the pursuit of truth should be balanced with practical concerns, such as well-being, virtue, and community life. | | Work by Amy S. Broderick, Department of Visual Arts and Art History, will be featured in the upcoming exhibition, “Woven,” at the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County in Lake Worth Beach, FL. The exhibition will highlight “artists who use paper to mirror and expand on techniques rooted in fiber, transforming the material through rhythm, pattern, and repetition into layered compositions that evoke strength, memory, and connection.” The exhibition opens on October 24 and runs through January 3, 2026. Jerusalem Ballet Performs at Florida Atlantic in First U.S. Tour
The Department of Theatre and Dance presents the Jerusalem Ballet in four performances at FAU’s University Theatre. The esteemed company will present “Houdini – the Other Side” on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m.; and “Memento” on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. There will be a reception for premium ticket holders on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m., prior to that evening’s show.
