Department Chairs - Please route this message to your department

Vice Chancellor
for Research
As we approach the end of the year, I would like to congratulate you — the campus research community — on the inspiring impact that you provide around the world through your discoveries, insights and innovations. You truly make this world a better place!

Looking forward to next year, our office will continue to identify new ways to try to help you advance your research programs. One particular opportunity that we will focus on is providing strategic support to unlock new opportunities with federal departments like the DoD and DoE. This area represents a significant opportunity for UC Davis to diversify and grow our research portfolio based on our unique capabilities.

Earlier this year, we established a new position dedicated to elevating the visibility of our campus’s strengths and capabilities with these federal departments. I am pleased to announce that Derrick Coffin has joined our team in this role and is working with campus leadership and faculty to identify and facilitate new strategies.

During the holidays, I hope you take some time off to spend with friends and family and engage in activities that you enjoy the most.

Happy holidays!
