Team Research Integrity is Here for You 'Owl'

Research Integrity (RI) and the entire Division of Research would like you to know we are here for you. Watch.

All the compliance committee meetings are proceeding on schedule. Committee members of the Health Sciences Institutional Review Board (IRB), Social Behavioral and Educational IRB, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) and Financial Conflict of Interest committee (FCOIC) continue to meet via Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Webex to review protocol submissions.

A huge thank you to all committee members for their dedication and continued assistance in supporting research during this challenging time.

RI continues to work remotely during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The best way to contact the office is by email, virtual audio or video calling using Teams.
The Division of Research encourages the continuation of research during quarantine. For guidance and to see how the changes are impacting research, visit COVID-19 Impacts on Research at FAU, where updates are posted as soon as new information becomes available.

Federal guidelines for research involving human subjects or animal subjects are still in place, including timely submission of continuing reviews/three-year renewals, amendments and completion of training, among other standard requirements.

Generally, changes to active research projects regarding adjustments necessary to maintain social distancing measures and other measures to avoid contagion are addressed by federal guidelines and through Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance.

Human subjects’ enrollment is on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions for face-to-face in-person enrollment and activities unless that research has direct benefit to the participant or can be justified.

For questions on how to effectively continue or begin research in a compliant manner contact the IRB, IACUC, FCOIC, Human Research Protections Program, Animal Research Protections Program, Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), Diving and Boating Board (DBB) or other Research Integrity personnel as applicable. If you are unsure who can best address your question email researchintegrity@fau.edu and your message will be directed to the appropriate staff member.

Stay Research Ready

With numerous virtual meeting platforms available, we continue to offer IACUC ethics training and IRB 101 training workshops as needed. To request to attend a virtual workshop contact researchintegrity@fau.edu.

All Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) program training modules offered at FAU and required by the different compliance committees have a three-year renewal cycle. Check your CITI account to track when your training renewals are due and complete them as needed.
