Host a German Student RISE Worldwide - Offer a Research Internship Are you a professor, a postdoc or a Ph.D. student at a research institute looking to host a German undergraduate intern? The RISE Worldwide program offers internships for German students in the STEM fields. DAAD supports the students with a monthly scholarship. Submit your internship offer from Sept 1st - Oct 15th.  More

Call for Applications Research Grants Research Grants are awarded to candidates who have completed a Master's degree, postdocs, individuals wishing to earn a doctoral degree in Germany, or in exceptional cases those with a Bachelor's degree at the latest by the time they begin their grant-supported research. More

German Academic International Network GAIN Conference in San Francisco, Aug 25-27  Calling all academics interested in working in Germany! The Annual GAIN Conference in San Francisco (Aug 25-27) offers postdocs, researchers, and assistant professors from all fields opportunities to learn about academic careers in Germany. Participation grants are available to German-speaking researchers interested in a career in Germany. More (in German only)

Higher Education in Germany

New Research Award International Scientists in Germany Max-Planck-Humboldt Research Award The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Max Planck Society (MPG) are establishing a new joint research award: the Max Planck-Humboldt Research Award will be endowed with 1.5 million euros and be presented to a researcher from outside Germany from 2018. The award will be aimed at scientists with outstanding future potential. More

In Profile

GAIN Advisor Alexander Geppert Alexander Geppert is Associate Professor of History and European Studies at NYU New York and NYU Shanghai.  A DAAD Research Grant enabled him to move from Germany to Italy to pursue his PhD in Florence. He recently joined the  GAIN Advisory Board to help DAAD promote Germany as a destination for academics and researchers worldwide. More

The Center for Higher Education Development (CHE) publishes Germany's most comprehensive ranking of higher education institutions. On the CHE website  you can find out what the top-ranked German universities are in every subject area.

Advertisement Freie Universität Berlin International Summer and Winter University (FUBiS)  FUBiS is an intensive academic program through which students can earn credits that may be counted toward their degrees at their home institutions. FUBiS sessions run for 3 to 6 weeks taking place both in summer and winter. Students can choose between subject classes (mostly taught in English) and German language courses. Field trips within Berlin are an integral part of every course.
