Introduction to Programming Workshops

Please join the Biostats CIRCL for some upcoming introductory programming workshops. These workshops will be led by Dr. Kristen McQuerry. Both workshops will be held in the MDS Building, Room 221

Introduction to SAS Programming

November 14, 2023

This workshop focuses on becoming familiar with the SAS system. You will learn how to create a basic data step, and run the import, frequency, format, sort, means, and graphing procedures.

Introduction to R Programming

November 15, 2023

This workshop focuses on becoming familiar with R and R Studio. You will learn how to set your working directory, import data, basic data checks, and graphing data.

Centering Equity in Academic-Community Partnerships: A Conversation with a Community Organizer 

Join CCTS for a presentation and conversation with Lea Whitehurst-Gibson, a community organizer with 20 years of experience equipping communities with sustainable tools and resources so they can build and maintain positive community change.

Lea Whitehurst Gibson is the Founder and CEO of Virginia Community Voice, a 501c3 nonprofit located in Richmond, Virginia. She is a seasoned community organizer who trains institutions in equity-driven community engagement that ultimately centers the voices of community members at all steps, from project inception to implementation.

Description

The Health Resources and Services Administration announces the National Rural Health Policy, Community, and Collaboration Program. The purpose of this program is to identify, engage, educate, and collaborate with rural stakeholders on national rural health policy issues and promising practices to improve health care in rural areas nationwide. Program objectives include: 1) Identifying and educating rural stakeholders about national policy issues and promising practices for rural health. 2) Maintaining projects that will help support engagement of rural communities in a broad range of activities. 3) Facilitating collaborations at the local, regional, state, and national levels to improve the exchange of information and promising practices that support rural health. 4) Identifying and providing information to rural stakeholders about existing federal funding opportunities or other programs relating to health care in rural areas.
