Under the DMS policy, NIH expects that investigators and institutions:

• Plan and budget for the managing and sharing of data
• Submit a DMS plan for review when applying for funding
• Comply with the approved DMS plan

Librarians Cayla Robinson and Lauren Robinson will share resources and UK data management tools for the upcoming NIH Data Management Plan requirement in January 2023.

As stated in an email from the Vice President for Research, May 23, 2022, all research-eligible UK personnel and graduate students are required to adhere to the RCR in-person training mandate in addition to the online RCR course and must be completed biennially. (View the announcement here.)

The deadline to complete the initial RCR in-person training session is May 31, 2023.

The National Addiction & HIV Data Archive Program (NAHDAP) is a data archive at ICPSR, the University of Michigan, which facilitates research on drug addiction and HIV infection by acquiring, enhancing, preserving, and sharing data produced by research grants, particularly those funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA). NAHDAP staff work with researchers to safely share their data, including sensitive data, for long-term preservation and secure access by the research community. NAHDAP provides services to help grantees meet the data sharing requirements for their current NIH grants, and to help future grantees plan to meet data sharing requirements for upcoming grants, particularly in light of the new NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy.

In this webinar, you will learn:

• What services NAHDAP provides and what types of data are a good fit for NAHDAP
• Why you should consider sharing your data with NAHDAP
• How NAHDAP protects sensitive or restricted data
• How you can use NAHDAP to meet the data sharing requirements of your NIH grant
• How to write an NIH Data Management and Sharing Plan as a social or behavioral scientist using NAHDAP

The UK Center for Research on Violence Against Women (CRVAW) in partnership with CCTS is accepting applications for Pilot Projects. CCTS-CRVAW will co-fund this award.

The goal of the CCTS-CRVAW Pilot Program is to increase extramural funding at the University of Kentucky in areas of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, misconduct or harassment, other forms of interpersonal, family violence, or gun violence that disproportionally impact women, girls or sexual minority populations. We are particularly interested in funding translational research with a violence intervention or prevention focus. Because violence often co-occurs with substance use and other threats to mental health, we welcome intervention or prevention projects that focus on these violence-related outcomes.

The purpose of this funding mechanism is to support researchers with the resources to compete for externally funded grant awards by providing pilot or preliminary data to support grant applications or manuscripts. We encourage the inclusion of a specific notice of funding announcement or grant call.

The maximum award will be $50,000 which must be spent over 12 months. Extensions beyond the 12 months may be granted depending on the review of the progress to date.

This award is open to investigators in the UK faculty eligible to submit and receive externally funded grants. Early career applicants must identify a mentor or mentoring team to assist the investigator.
