We are pleased to announce Dr. Ana Nikolic as the recipient of our 2025 Elevation Research Grant, generously funded by DUNN with Cancer.

Dr. Nikolic, Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary’s Hotchkiss Brain Institute, has been awarded $100,000 for her innovative project, "Charting the landscape of cellular quiescence in adult IDH-wildtype glioblastoma (GBM)".

We extend our gratitude to the Dunn family for their generous support, and to Dr. Nikolic for her commitment to advancing the understanding and treatment of this devastating disease.

Glioblastoma is the most common primary brain tumour, affecting nearly 5 in 100,000 Canadians.

Hear why research matters. Dr. Ana Nikolic shares how funding support helps uncover new insights into glioblastoma and why advancing science is key to improving outcomes for those affected.

Thank you to Ana for sharing this message with our community on July 16 for Glioblastoma Awareness Day.

COLLABORATION CORNER

We are excited to share that Dr. Federico Gaiti, our 2023 Feature Grant Recipient, is featured in the latest publication from the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA). Dr. Gaiti is also the recipient of ABTA’s 2023 Research Collaboration Grant. His work continues to make important contributions to the brain tumour research community.

This spotlight also reflects the strength of our ongoing partnership with ABTA. Together, we are working toward shared goals through initiatives like the annual Strategic Brain Tumour Fly-In, the Brain Tumor Funder’s Collaborative, and our support with their Discovery Grant. These collaborative efforts help advance research, connect leading experts, and create more opportunities for meaningful impact in the lives of those affected by brain tumours. Together, we are stronger.
