Applications are open for the 2026 Brain Tumour Research Studentships, a unique opportunity for undergraduate and medical students in Canada to gain hands-on experience in brain tumour research. These two-year awards provide $10,000 in funding to support promising students working on projects that advance understanding, treatment, and care for those affected by brain tumours.

Priority will be given to studies focused on low-grade glioma, rare tumour types and glioblastoma, though all areas of brain tumour research are eligible. Applications are due January 23, 2026.

WEBINAR RECORDING

We would like to thank Dr. Yan Yuan, professor at the University of Alberta’s School of Public Health, for an engaging and informative webinar.

During the session, Dr. Yuan shared key findings from the most recent data including incidence rates, prevalence rates, and survival rates of 25 brain tumour groups, classified based on location and histology. In addition, she also introduced and gave a brief demonstration of Brain Tumour Surveillance Research Collaborative (BTSRC) data visualization tool. This tool provides users with easy access to Canadian brain tumour statistics, allowing them to explore information by age, sex, region, and histology.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS

Presenting an abstract at Summit for Cancer Immunotherapy (Summit4CI) offers researchers, students, postdocs, research associates, technical staff, and industry professionals a platform to share their scientific findings with a broad and diverse audience, including international experts in immunotherapy, patient groups, and the cancer research community across Canada.

SHARE YOUR WORK

Your work makes a difference! If you’ve produced posters or publications through our funded projects, please share them with us.

Together, we can showcase your accomplishments and inspire our community.

Your participation in studies and surveys is essential to advancing brain tumour research in Canada.

Learn about ways you or others in the brain tumour community can get involved in brain tumour studies and surveys, or share with us if you are looking to recruit. If eligible, we would love to share your work to help support.

The Brain Canada & Weizmann Institute of Science Team Grants program supports collaborative, cross-border research partnerships between investigators in Canada and the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel. The program is designed to advance innovative and exploratory ideas that have the potential to transform our understanding of the brain and neurological disorders, spanning basic, translational, and clinical research.

This competition will provide up to five grants of $500,000 each, over two years, for teams led jointly by independent investigators from eligible Canadian institutions and the Weizmann Institute of Science.

Share your story of hope

This time of year brings moments of reflection, whether warm, tender or difficult. In our community, each moment and each story matters.

We invite you to continue carrying hope forward this holiday season, by donating and sharing a Story of Hope in their honour.

Your gift ensures that those facing a brain tumour can access programs, resources and support in their time of need, and that hope is within reach.
