Local Control & Accountability Plan
Berkeley's Local Control & Accountability Plan (LCAP) guides district efforts to expand and improve service and programs to high need students.

LCAP Goal #1:
Provide high quality classroom instruction and curriculum that promotes  college and career readiness with  academic intervention in place to eliminate barriers  to success.

LCAP Goal #2:
End the racial predictability of academic achievement by ensuring that all
systems are culturally and linguistically responsive to the needs of our students.

LCAP Goal #3:
Ensure all school sites have safe, welcoming and inclusive climates for  all students and their families, so that all students are ready to learn.

Participants engage with each other around funding priorities in BSEP budget "thermometer" exercise.
Our first big public event for BSEP measure planning took place on Thursday, October 22. About 180 participants representing many school and district committees took part in both the annual School and District Committee Orientation and a BSEP Budget Planning Workshop.

Save the date: The next BSEP measure planning workshop is scheduled for February 25.
Improvement in School Attendance Recognized
Berkeley school teachers, staff, and administrators have sustained a multi-year effort in working with families and the school community to increase awareness about the importance of school attendance. Our work to reduce chronic absenteeism rates, improve overall attendance, and reduce the dropout rate led to BUSD's recognition as one of eleven districts in the state of California for its Model Attendance Improvement Program. E very day counts!
Berkeley High's Colorful Unity Week
With a new take on school spirit, Berkeley High students, staff, faculty, and parents joined together in celebration of Unity Week. Lunch time competitions were a big hit with faculty, staff, and students battling it out in table tennis, dodge ball, tricycle races, and more. Themed dress days brought out individual creativity and made for good fun for students, staff and teachers alike.
