The Symposium’s Call for Abstracts is available online, with all applications due by Weds., Feb. 23.
Students from all disciplines are encouraged to present. Late submissions will not be accepted. Applicants are invited to choose one of the following formats: 12-minute oral presentation, poster presentation or 3-Minute Thesis oral presentation. Each student may submit only one application as a lead author.
Note that all faculty mentors will be required to electronically approve applicants prior to acceptance. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact event coordinator Kim Camarena at kcamarena@csufresno.edu.

CSU STUDENT RESEARCH COMPETITION |
|
Students from all disciplines are invited to participate in the 36th Annual CSU Student Research Competition, hosted virtually by San Francisco State on April 29-30. Students must submit their application via InfoReady by Sunday, March 6. Up to 10 students will be accepted to represent Fresno State.

Eduardo Gonzalez (OCED) received a $99,999 contract from USDA for the "Ag Connect: Access Outreach and Technical Assistance” program.

Kyle Thompson (Ag Education) and Carmen Licon (Food Science) received a $63,746 grant from the California Milk Advisory Board for the project, “Effects of a High Omega-3 Fatty Acids Diet in Milk and Dairy Products Quality at Fresno State.

Hovannes Kulhandjian (ECE) received a $5,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Defense for the project, “AI-based Human Detection and Classification in Zero-Visibility Combat Operations.”

Harinder Bawa (Physics) received additional support to work on sub-projects within AWS infrastructure aimed to make cloud cluster available to the US ATLAS Collaboration.

Jonathan T. Pryor (Educational Leadership) co-authored an article titled, “Exploring 20 Years of LGBTQ Practitioner Scholarship: Applying Scholarship to Practice?” in the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice.

INTERNAL FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES |
|
The awards provide (a) mini-grants up to $5,000; (b) summer/winter pay up to $3,000; or (c) 3 units of reassigned time to support faculty research, scholarship and creative activity toward the disciplined quest for broadening human understanding.
Faculty are encouraged to use the activities and results from these awards to pursue external funding and to broaden the scope of their research, scholarship and creative activities. Applications close at 5pm on Monday, March 14. Contact your department for more information.

Fresno State’s California Water Institute is now accepting abstracts for the 2022 Water Showcase, to be held on Wednesday, March 2.
The 2022 Fresno State Water Showcase planning committee is looking for faculty and staff to present at this inaugural event, which will feature water-related research, studies, education, activities and more.
