Inaugural Science Gallery Atlanta Faculty Research Fellows named

Emory University faculty members Madeleine Hackney and Eri Saikawa have been named the inaugural recipients of the Science Gallery Atlanta Faculty Research Fellowships.

Harnessing the Power of Song

Emory researcher Jesse P. Karlsberg first developed the one-of-a-kind, historic, sacred songbook library as a doctoral student at Emory; he now serves as senior digital scholarship strategist in the Emory Center for Digital Scholarship and is an associated faculty member in the Department of Music.

Emory Director of Research Analytics co-writes study examining accuracy of arrest data in FBI’s crime database

Alex Wagner, the Director of research analytics at Emory University, co-wrote a study that found that a design flaw in NIBRS, the timings of arrests, and human factors can lead to discrepancies.

Associate Director, Office of Research Grants and Contracts selected to serve as a member of RACC and CRA exam review committee

Xiaowen Ma, Associate Director for the Office of Research Grants and Contracts, has been selected to serve as a member of the Research Administrators Certification Council (RACC) Certified Research Administrator (CRA) exam review committee for a term of two years. Obtaining a CRA in research and sponsored programs administration is highly valued and provides formal recognition of basic knowledge in the field.

She will be presenting a concurrent financial compliance session at the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) 23rd Annual Financial Research Administration Conference (FRA) titled: “Getting to Yes While Maintaining Compliance”.

Compliance Manager and Research Compliance Specialist, Margaret Huber celebrates 50 years at Emory

Emory congratulates Margaret Huber for her 50 years of service at Emory University. Margaret is a well-known professional in the area of Research Compliance, with a focus on FDA research regulations. Margaret started her career at Emory as a registered nurse on the healthcare side.

Later, as a research nurse, on complex and important research projects, such as the Women Health Diet study. Margaret moved to the compliance side, working for the IRB for several years before being recruited by Kris West at the Office of Research Compliance. Margaret created a program to assist Emory Sponsor Investigators with training and compliance with federal regulations. This program is still in place and active today. She is an integral part of our team and the University.
