In January 2020, Emory University became the 8th member of the Science Gallery Network—the world’s only university network dedicated to public engagement with science and art. Emory University is proud to be part of a network that provides us with a unique opportunity to disseminate our research to the city of Atlanta and its diverse communities.
HOOKED invites us to consider whether recovery depends on social as well as individual transformation, and places the ideas of participating artists, researchers, and visitors in dialogue with global ideas about the factors that affect our choices and their respective outcomes.
Each exhibit creates an interactive opportunity to experiment while learning; inviting young people to become co-creators in the scientific and artistic processes. Additionally, Science Gallery Atlanta provides a platform for students at Emory and across the state to serve as mediators and co-produce some of the amazing bodies of work you’ll see within the exhibition.
The exhibition serves as a tool to grow our research portfolio and enrich the sciences through community engagement. Ultimately, Science Gallery is building our collective understanding of complex issues to yield creative solutions for some of the world’s most pressing global challenges.
