Special Board Meeting
has been scheduled for Monday, October 17th at 7:30 am. The agenda is to discussion on a potential parcel tax. You can find more information
on our district website.
A few key reminders. School starts at 8:20 am when the bell rings, but we take attendance when flag salute begins. If your child arrives late, s/he will be asked to go to the office to get a late slip. Please remind your child that we are respectful during the flag salute and we do not walk.
Attendance updates - absences and tardies are down from last year - congratulations! This means more time is focused on instruction and learning. Unexcused absences are those that are not associated with illnesses, doctor's appointments, deaths in the family, or family emergencies. We are starting to send out attendance letters for truancies, which are three or more unexcused absences or tardies (beginning or end of the day in excess of 30 minutes).
If your child will be out of school,
is available for five or more consecutive days, which then excuses the absences.
is the link to the information on our website. Our teachers need at last 48 hours to put together independent study packets tied to work in the classroom. Thanks for all of your help with attendance. Attendance is a required part of our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and the data the state looks at around effective schools.
Lakeside School is dedicated to helping students become healthy, self reliant, resilient citizens. Keeping the agreements and living up to the expectations will make everyone’s experience at Lakeside positive.
We have updated our
as there were some errors in reference to Clubhouse and other programs. Please reinforce the behavioral expectations with your students. We appreciate your partnership in this work. These are also posted on our website and will be sent home with students in the next week, as a reference you can keep at home.
Within the next week, we should have a new Student Council! We're excited to welcome student leadership and are grateful to have Tammy Martin leading the Student Council this year. Their first big activity will be Red Ribbon Week the last week of October, followed by recycling support and Student Stores. We'll notify you of those as the dates are scheduled.
Counseling reminder - we do have a counselor who is here approximately 10 hours a week to support our students. She is able to see individual students for approximately 6-8 sessions. The permission slips and information are in the front office in the files under C for Counselor. Mia Paley-Williams does have a wait list right now, but will have openings in the next month or so.
