Plant late & second crops - still lots of seedlings
First zucchini at Hawkes Farm
Bath Farmers Market June 12 2021
Good Morning,

Sorry for the blackout earlier this am. It's a mystery. See you tomorrow.

So glad to see new friends and old last week. Mohammed Abukar of New Roots Cooperative Farm has returned; he still has CSA shares available, just go to newrootscooperativefarm.com to sign up. Meadowcroft was dealing with lambs and short staffing: hopefully those are resolving and we'll see Nanne soon. Mindful Gardens is aiming for the end of the month. And we anticipate meeting the new owner of Pleasant Pond Orchard by the end of July.

Kim Scheimreif, of Boite Nature, formerly Shepherds & Such, has left the market. A long time member, she and her carefully crafted items will be missed. Fare well Kim.

Bath in summer has lots to offer. Make it a day and explore Front Street just a block west, after market. Stop at The Fountain (next to Wilson's Drug Store) for a tasty lunch. Good food, including pies and other treats from our own Chase Farm. But really, it's the wall of ice cream favorites that calls to me: try the cannoli in a waffle cone.

SNAP participants. remember you get a 100% match on fruits and vegetables using Harvest Bucks; a SNAP volunteer is available mid Market 8:30 to 11:30.

I have a calendar with all kinds of holidays noted. So take advantage of the fact that somewhere it's Loving Day this Saturday - what a great day to make your own, feast with friends or family, offer a hand to a stranger. Show the love!

Remember

Well behaved, quiet dogs on leashes: Please.
Reactive barkers and overly assertive pups make many folks uncomfortable and may scare kids.
.
The bathrooms at the North End of the Park are open. They lock, they are usually quite clean. Thanks to the City of Bath for their work keeping this valuable resource ready and waiting!

And remember to leave the parking spaces by the sidewalk for vendors to set up in.
Good Dog of the week, Olive, an occasional visitor. Loving pal of Anna of Mana Medicinals

From our vendors -Sales, Seasonal, Specials

Robin at Chase Farm sold 18 dozen donuts last week, most before 11. You know what to do. Up with the birds, donut fans; pick up fresh raw milk while you're there, for coffee or dreamy evening cocoa.

Bag your best morning treat from our cheerful bakers & scoot right over to Big Barn Coffee, cause Dan is brewing at the market again! A full flavored cup of dark or medium roast coffee, a bench by the river, breathe the day..

Now you're happy so stop at Hawkes and indulge in a glorious hanging basket or some vibrant perennials for your front yard. Wallow in scent and color.
Lovely leeks & spring onions at New Roots Farm
Tracy at Pemaquid is still posting the catch of the day on her website pemaquidlobster.com; remember: no preorders this summer. Just rise with the sun and be there at 8:30. Try the premade fish and shellfish burgers: they are quite lovely; I keep a few for emergencies.

Cheese rules in summer for snacks and light meals. Make a plate: Creamy Blue Velvet At Hahns End, or the fennel dusted Sunburst at Appleton, maybe the ash dusted Waldo Smog from Fuzzy Udder. Instant party for 1 or more.

dharma farm is happy to be offering self service again: still some nice vegetable seedlings, herbs for an old fashioned cottage garden, really sweet lettuce, cut herbs too..
Picture perfect, very tasty/ Bok Choy at Tarbox Farm
Kyle at Tarbox has confirmed: the Beer Garden is now open 10-6; serving their Sasanoa Brewery line of beers/ales,fresh and flavorful, using their own herbs. check the website at www.tarboxfarm for directions and more info.

Strawberries are here at Goranson Farm. Lush and juicy it's a bountiful harvest, worth the line! Buy to freeze please.Still have seedlings: and lovely mesclun, spinach, lettuces, herbs. Drive to the farm - lots more there.

The Spruce Beer.Vinegar from West Maquoit Vinegar Works is made with beer from Black Pug Brewing in Brunswick and spruce tips, for a subtle hint of rosemary, very nice for midday salads when it's HOT
Great taste, fun to buy - packaging at Gracie's Garden tells the story
Fresh quince jelly and crab apple butter for a wake me up bit of toast, are sure hits from Old Narrow Gauge. Tho fiddleheads are done, Amy has pickled quite a few, and they're here, some with garlic, others herbed/spiced up.

Gracie's Garden is the place to stock up for hot days; ladle out a few hefty scoops of these fresh from the garden veggie blends - no prep, no cooking, just enjoy.

Serve some with a prebaked lasagna , ready to be heated quickly and slice into instant dinner for two. Buy some extra Sauce Bolognese of Arrabiata if you like. For dessert, Almond macaroons. All at Alchimia.
