A Message from our President, Linda E. Rizzo

Paradise...needs

You

...for continued success.

Paradise has a long history in Scottsdale. We are honored to have served on the Executive Board for 2024 and 2025. We are all termed out of our particular offices as of the end of 2025. That’s not to say any of us couldn’t remain on the Committee in another capacity but we are asking all of you to participate in Paradise Republican Women’s Club in a more meaningful way - in a way that you can put your talent to use for the continued success of the Club.

Below you will see a list of the positions utilized at Paradise Republican Women's Club. I urge all of you to consider stepping into one of them. I have linked a pdf here, also. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions.

Best regards,

Linda E. Rizzo

President

Our May Speakers

Lisa Borowsky

Mayor Lisa Borowsky began her first term as mayor of Scottsdale in January 2025.

Lisa is a lifelong Scottsdale resident where she grew up riding and showing quarter horses competitively, earning extensive local, state and national championships. Throughout her legal career, Lisa represented homeowners plagued by construction failures, the result of shoddy construction, recovering millions of dollars on behalf of her clients.

Lisa’s most important accomplishment, however, is raising her beautiful daughter, Savannah, here in Scottsdale where they enjoy spending time with family, their dogs and horses, and playing tennis!

Active in the community throughout her life, Lisa previously served on the Scottsdale City Council from 2008 to 2012, where she led the charge for meaningful structural changes to the budget process, including obtaining a voter approved City Charter amendment which strengthened the city’s fiscal accountability to taxpayers.

Lisa has served on numerous city and philanthropic boards and committees, including the Scottsdale Charros Foundation Board, Experience Scottsdale Board of Directors, TGen’s Center for Rare Childhood Disease Research, the city’s Audit Committee, Water Subcommittee, and Scottsdale WestWorld Subcommittee. She has a strong passion for promoting the city’s hospitality industry and is committed to maintaining and growing Scottsdale as a premiere tourist destination recognized throughout the world. However, fostering a community where residents are proud to call home will always be her top priority.

Lisa loves meeting residents and is always interested in hearing from them.

Andy Biggs

Congressman Andy Biggs is an Arizona native and currently serving his third term in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Arizona's Fifth District. He lives in Gilbert with his wife of 40 years, Cindy. They have six children and seven grandchildren.

Before being elected to Congress, Congressman Biggs served in the Arizona Legislature for 14 years – the last four as the Arizona Senate President.

Congressman Biggs is a member of the House Judiciary and Oversight and Reform committees. He is chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, co-chair of the Border Security Caucus, co-chair of the War Powers Caucus, and Chief Regulatory Reform Officer of the Western Caucus.

The Arizona Republic named Congressman Biggs as one of its "10 Arizona people you'll want to watch in 2019," arguing that "Biggs makes the public case for the conservative position and often in defense of the Trump administration. He's very good at it. His advocacy tends to be well-reasoned and persuasive, not inflammatory...To keep an eye on what congressional conservatives are thinking and advocating, Biggs is increasingly one to watch."

Biggs filed to run for AZ Governor in January of 2025.

Warren Petersen

Arizona State Senate President Warren Petersen has served in the Arizona Legislature since 2012. He currently represents district 14, which covers Gilbert and parts of Queen Creek. Throughout his career at the Legislature, President Petersen has advocated for limited government, reduced regulations, fiscally conservative initiatives, low taxes and free market principles.

Service in the legislature has included House Majority Leader, Rules Chair, Commerce Chair, Judiciary Chair and Ethics committee.

President Petersen is a third-generation Gilbert resident and a graduate of Gilbert High School. He received his bachelor's degree from Arizona State University and a Juris doctor degree from ASU Law. He has worked in the real estate industry for more than two decades, primarily in residential homes and owns a real estate brokerage. When he's not busy at the Legislature or running his business, he's spending time with his family and serving those within his community.

Petersen filed to run for AZ Attorney General in January of 2025.

AXON BILL UPDATE

Hobbs signs Axon Bill

(no surprise there)

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily)Gov. Katie Hobbs has chosen to sign into law a controversial bill to skip a public vote on a proposed development in Scottsdale.

The Arizona Legislature passed the bill on Tuesday, which blocks a 2026 referendum on the controversial development by Axon, a Scottsdale-based technology and weapons company. The development would reportedly tout a hotel, the Axon headquarters and nearly 2,000 apartment units near the Loop 101 and Hayden Road.

Please access additional information from from Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky in This Video.

Stay tuned for updates. Scottsdale residents aren't beaten or finished.
