THE CHAMBER SAYS YES TO AFFORDABLE GROCERIES
The Chamber recently endorsed the Yes on I-1634 campaign, also known as the Keep Groceries Affordable Initiative. The Chamber is proud to stand with business groups, labor unions, agriculture organizations, and countless small business owners.

Washington State does not tax groceries but a loophole allows local governments to do so.  This initiative closes this loophole in state law and protects local businesses and restaurants from the burden of new taxes on our groceries . The success of these area businesses is critical to the strength and viability of the South Sound economy and for continued job growth for our constituents. The Chamber says “Yes” to affordable groceries to stop new regressive taxes on the backs of those who can least afford it, our small businesses and working families. MORE INFORMATION HERE
THE CHAMBER SAYS NO TO ENERGY TAX
The Chamber opposes initiative I-1631's energy tax. An independent study of I-1631 shows the negative consequences of this initiative including:

--Costing Washington households $440 more in 2020, rising to $990 within 15 years
--The measure would fail to reduce greenhouse gases, leaving 93% untouched
--The state's top polluters would be exempt from the tax

Washington families and small businesses would pay more for gasoline, electricity, natural gas, and goods & services, with little to know positive environmental impact. MORE INFORMATION HERE
