Good afternoon

Earlier this week, we reopened to traffic and pedestrians the Reservoir Avenue Railroad Bridge. It carries Reservoir Avenue over Amtrak in Providence, and we were pleased to reestablish this vital link for the Elmwood and Reservoir Avenue neighborhoods. Learn more here

Henderson Bridge, East Providence/Providence

East River Street remains closed for structural steel and bridge deck work, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please follow signed detour. In addition, as part of this project, drainage work at the new Massasoit Avenue roundabout is also scheduled.

I-95 North Viaduct, Providence

Overnight bridge demolition and wall work will require the closures of on-and off-ramps within the I-95 North Exit 37 (old Exit 22) interchange, Route 6 West, from Memorial Boulevard to Dean Street, alternating lanes within the project area along I-95 North, and portions of Providence Place and Park Street. Get more information about traffic impacts here.

Pell Bridge Ramps Phase 2, Newport

Demolition and excavation will continue for the former roadway/ramp just west of the JT Connell Connector in preparation for the new intersection. Gravel will be installed for the road widening for the on-ramp from the JT Connell Connector. Drainage and electrical work will be completed along the Connector Road, JT Connell Highway, and if time allows, America’s Cup Avenue. The bridge rehabilitation and demolition work will continue along Route 138 for the overpasses and which may require temporary lane shifts along Third Street and JT Connell Highway. Flaggers and police details will be onsite to guide vehicles through the work zones.

Reservoir Avenue Railroad Bridge, Providence

Earlier this week, we reopened the Reservoir Avenue Railroad Bridge to traffic. With this opening, the intersection of Roger Williams Avenue and Narragansett Avenue has returned to a four-way-stop condition, and the temporary traffic signal installed during construction was removed. Construction will resume in the spring, when we’re scheduled to install a new gas main, and sidewalks on the west side of the bridge.

Route 6/10 Interchange Reconstruction, Providence

Overnight noise is possible as we continue to demolish the former bridge from Route 6 East to Route 10 South over Amtrak. A weekday left lane closure is scheduled within the project area on Route 10 South, as we install storm drains along the Route 10 median, and build retaining walls at the Harris Avenue Bridge.

Safe Routes to School, Warren

Work will continue on concrete forming and reinforcing installation of the abutment and pier foundations for the new bridge over the Kickemuit River.  Please utilize extra caution along Barker Avenue and the Warren Bike Path as construction vehicles will be entering and leaving the work zone.

Washington Bridge, East Providence/Providence

Overnight next week (click here for specifics), we need to close the Gano Street exit off I-195 West, plus have alternating one-way traffic on Gano Street, under I-195, for bridge work. Our ongoing overnight bridge work will also require the closure of the on-ramps from Warren Avenue, Veterans Memorial Parkway and Taunton Avenue to I-195 West, and lanes along I-195 West. Please follow signed detours.
