Update Regarding Summer Camp
Dear Resica Falls Camp Staff,
We hope that you and your family are staying safe and healthy. We know that this is a difficult time for everyone and want to give you an important update on camp.
With that in mind, volunteers and staff of the program, enterprise risk management, and health and safety committees, along with summer camp and council leadership teams, have spent a tremendous amount of time and effort monitoring updates and projections by the CDC, state government, local health departments, as well as the evolving national BSA and American Camping Association guidelines seeking a path to be able to conduct our summer programs in a manner that will keep our Scouts and leaders safe from the COVID-19 virus.
Regrettably, given the information that is available today, including the likelihood that we would be unable to secure supplies such as masks, gloves and disinfectant in quantities that would be required to keep everyone safe, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel all in-person summer camp operations for 2020. This decision was not arrived at lightly, but it is the right decision to make in maintaining the council’s ongoing commitment to the safety of our scouts above all else.
We are deeply saddened to share this news.
While we will not be operating a traditional summer camp, we will be offering an extensive virtual program. 2020 Virtual Camp will require a smaller staff to deliver a strong program of merit badges, campwide activities, leader programs, and customer service. The staff for this program will be assembled shortly.
We appreciate everyone’s efforts to apply and to be interviewed for a position; we assembled a fantastic staff! Many have submitted paperwork and training. All of your paperwork has been saved on Workbright and will still be good for next year with the exception of your contract and other date-sensitive documents. We hope that you will be able to join us next year. Better times are ahead!
We value your interest in joining camp staff and look forward to when we can gather as a staff family again. It is natural to be disappointed, and we are here for you. We hope to stay in touch and will see each other soon!
Yours in Scouting,
Chris, Steve, Bobby, Jerry, Andy, and Nick
