End-of-Term Essentials for Your Student

As the academic term nears its end, this month's edition of Residence Connection focuses on how to support a successful transition for your student with exam support, care packages, and resources for living off-campus in the fall.

Please encourage your student to reach out to their Don or Residence Life Coordinator if they have any questions or concerns as they finish up their first year.

If you have any questions, please contact us at reslife@queensu.ca or 613-533-6790.

Queen's Residence in March

Planning for Move-Out

Queen's Residences will close on April 23 at 1 pm, with Leonard and Jean Royce dining halls also closing at 1 pm that day.

Students must move out by 3 pm on the day following their final exam. Should your student wish to stay beyond this time, they can:

  • Submit an extension request to stay until Residence closure on April 23 at 1 pm.
  • Submit a stayover request to stay in Residence until April 26 at 12 pm noon. After this time, students will be required to relocate to Summer Accommodation at the rates posted on our website.

Your student will need to submit an extension or stayover request through the Housing and Ancillary Services Portal up until April 16 at 12 pm noon. The forms are not yet live. They will be able to submit requests up until April 16 at 12 pm noon.

More information about the process will be shared with students in upcoming editions of their weekly newsletter.

Working Toward a Wasteless Move-Out

As move-out approaches, we encourage students to begin decluttering and downsizing their personal spaces with sustainability in mind. They will be able to:

  • Pack their belongings using free reusable boxes provided at the dining halls, Lazy Scholar, Location 21, and Wally’s.
  • Bring unexpired, non-perishable food items to designated boxes in residence common rooms, the Lazy Scholar, or Location 21 for donation to the food bank.
  • Return their GOOD TO GO reusable food containers for a $5 Flex deposit refund.
  • Participate in the Second-Hand Shuffle from April 20 to May 1. Students can donate their gently used items and pick up available items for free!

More details to come.
