Your student has started to receive our weekly Thursday email. The first email was sent on August 1.

We want to ensure your student has completed all the required pre-arrival steps, and provide tips to help make your move-in experience smooth and efficient!

We are so excited to welcome your student to Queen's University! Thank you for joining our community and participating in your student's success.

Zone Cards & Move-in Map

Your student will receive an email the week of August 26 with an assigned Zone Card and designated route map specific to their residence building. Please print the Zone Card in colour and set it on your vehicle's dash as you arrive. Zone Cards help the Move-in team direct you quickly to your student's residence building unloading zone.

The building unloading zone will be a fast-paced area! Parking is not permitted. Your student and family members will have a maximum of 5 minutes to unload belongings. Volunteers will be on-hand to help! A team member will then direct the vehicle's driver to park in a designated parking lot free of charge for up to 3 hours. You will receive a temporary parking pass that must be filled in and displayed on the dash.

Don't use Google Maps or Waze for directions! Many roads will be closed or turned into one-way streets to ease congestion. It is extremely important that you follow your Zone Card directions only, to help ensure a timely and efficient arrival process.

Go Green: Please leave cardboard behind

Say goodbye to excessive cardboard and hello to a greener move-in experience!

If you're helping your student transport their belongings to campus, please consider a cardboard-free approach. Encourage your student to pack in reusable bags, plastic totes, laundry baskets, or suitcases/backpacks that can easily make the return trip home.

Allergy or Dietary Needs? We’re Here to Help!

Supporting students with food allergies and other dietary needs is a top priority. If your student has a food allergy, intolerance, food-related medical condition, follows a diet related to a religious/cultural observance or a vegetarian/vegan diet, they should do the following (if they haven't already!):

  1. Complete the Food Allergy and Dietary Needs form in the Student Residence & Dining portal before arriving on campus.
  2. Schedule a virtual or in-person meeting with Theresa Couto, our Registered Dietitian, to learn about food options and how to make safe and informed food choices.

Learn more about how we support students dining with allergies and dietary needs, and visit Special Diet Options.

supporter helping with move in

From one supporter to another

"I moved my daughter into Waldron Tower last year, and I could not be happier with how smooth the process was. The staff and volunteers were all very helpful, making a stressful day easy and exciting for all of us.

A helpful tip for parents moving their students in is that you don't have to have everything they need the day you move in. For my daughter, we spent so long time thinking about every single possible thing she could need; in reality, she didn't need much of it. So bring the basics, and figure out the rest once they've settled into their space."
