Pride Week in Residence: November 3–8 🏳️🌈
Celebrate belonging, connection, and courage this Residence Pride Week!
Pride Week in Residence is a time to honour 2SLGBTQ+ communities at Queen’s and across Canada. While many Pride festivals happen in the summer, we celebrate in November to ensure all students can connect, reflect, and celebrate together.
The history of Pride in Canada is rooted in resistance, courage, and community. From the first gay rights protest on Parliament Hill in 1971 to the Toronto Bathhouse Raids in 1981, queer Canadians have continually stood up for justice against oppression. These moments paved the way for the inclusive spaces we strive to create today, including right here in Residence.
Join us for a week of meaningful connection. Let’s honour the past, celebrate the present, and build a future where everyone thrives!

Mid-Year Residence Experience Survey 2025-2026
We want to hear from you! All students living in Residence have received an individual survey link via their Queen’s email to share confidential feedback about their Don. Please take a few minutes and provide your honest input to support performance evaluations and help guide improvements in Residence. Thank you for helping us make Residence an even more supportive and inclusive place to live and learn!
Complete the survey by Nov. 2 for your chance to win one of three prizes of $75 in Flex $!
| |
Check your email and complete your student housing survey for a chance to win a prize!
This is a friendly reminder for those students selected to participate in the Queen’s student housing survey – the survey should take 10 to 15 minutes to complete. If you started your survey but were unable to complete it in one sitting, you can click on the survey link in the email to pick up where you left off.
Complete your survey and you will be able to opt-in to a draw to win one of the following prizes:
- One (1) of three (3) Apple iPad A16
- One (1) of two (2) Apple AirPods 4
- One (1) of five (5) $100 Flex $ gift cards to be used at Queen’s University dining locations
Winners will be drawn at random from those who fully complete this survey.
This study looks at the choices students make in their accommodations (both on and off-campus) while studying at Queen’s. You will be asked about the types of facilities and amenities you have or might want, and how much you are paying and able to pay for accommodation. What you share will help guide the university in making decisions about adding more on-campus housing.

Conduct Corner: Understanding Sexual Violence
At Queen’s, we value respect, inclusion, and care for one another. A key part of building a safe and supportive campus is understanding what sexual violence is, and how we can all help prevent it.
Sexual violence is any violence, physical or psychological, carried out through sexual means or by targeting sexuality. It involves unwanted and non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. For example, someone being kissed or grabbed without their consent. Sexual harassment often happens without physical contact, such as sharing sexual photos.
You play a role in helping keep campus safe for everyone. Please take some time to read Queen’s Policy on Sexual Misconduct and Sexual Violence Involving Students.
If you have questions about sexual violence, reach out to your Don to understand the resources available to you. If you have experienced sexual violence, you can speak with your Don, or visit Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Services for support and information.

Myth Buster: Is It Really Too Late to Sign a Lease for Next Year?
You might hear that if you haven’t signed a lease by now, you’ll miss out on housing for next year — but that’s not true.
In Kingston, most rental listings appear between December and February, once current tenants decide whether to renew or move. Many leases end in April, and by law, tenants must give 60 days’ notice. This means landlords often confirm availability in late winter.
What does this mean for you?
- There’s still plenty of time to find housing.
- Waiting can give you access to more options.
- You have time to plan, find roommates, and make informed decisions.
Bottom line: Don’t rush. Do your research, explore your options, and choose what’s right for you.
