Dear Residents,
It is my privilege to write to you today and mark the beginning of Resident Doctors Appreciation 2022! This annual event provides an opportunity to educate the public and our healthcare colleagues about the invaluable role residents have in the delivery of healthcare services in Manitoba. It is also an important occasion to show our thanks and appreciation for your hard work and unwavering commitment.
There are approximately 600 residents in Manitoba, representing nearly 20% of Manitoba’s physician workforce across a broad spectrum of disciplines. The work of residents is essential to the functioning of our healthcare system, as has been demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the course of this week, you will hear from university and healthcare leaders expressing their appreciation for your service and dedication. Along with our celebratory mix of events and free snacks, we are also excited to contribute up to $50 to resident groups at peripheral sites to help you celebrate (larger resident cohorts can request a reimbursement >$50, depending on uptake)! To apply, submit your costed-out plan to parim.office@gmail.com by February 11. Once approved, reimbursement will be arranged.
