ESC of Lake Erie West Resident Educator Consortium
Resident Educator Year 1 Monthly Update September 2021
Thanks to all who attended the first RE Year 1 session. Your attention and participation was appreciated. We look forward to working with you in the upcoming sessions. Be sure to mark your calendar now for your next session. The next RE Year 1 session will be on Tuesday, October 26 from 4:30-6:00pm via Zoom. The Zoom link for the meeting will be posted on the Google Site approximately 24 hours prior to the meeting, and you will receive an email as well.
What You Should Be Doing Now
Resident educators should be working collaboratively with their mentor on the requirements listed below:

  • Getting to know your mentor and setting up a schedule/routine to meet regularly

  • Determine a way to communicate with your mentor (Google Doc, email, etc.) when you have concerns or questions outside of your regular meeting times

  • Completing the Self Assessment Summary - using the Continuum for Teacher Development - and then reflecting on your summary with your mentor to help in determining your yearly goals for your Professional Growth Plan

  • Remember to use a form of the Collaborative Log to guide your conversations and document your progress each time you meet with your mentor
Homework for Next Session
Begin working with the Teaching and Learning Cycle.
•How can I reflect on my own practice?
•How can I better assess my own skills?

Bring a lesson plan to our next session! It can be any lesson plan.
Resources for You
Resident Educator Monthly Update
This monthly Resident Educator e-news is designed to provide you with helpful information and resources. Residency is a time to practice, refine and gain a deeper understanding of the art and science of teaching under the guidance of a certified mentor and the support of a professional learning community. You will be receiving monthly updates that highlight where you should be in the program and also offer helpful resources.
RE sessions will be held as scheduled unless there are extreme conditions that interfere. This would be a rare occurrence. If a session is cancelled or changed, participants will be notified by email from the ESC of Lake Erie West by 2 p.m. so be sure to check your email prior to leaving school.
If you have questions, contact Kim Sofo or Elizabeth Kregel, Professional Development Consultants with the ESC of Lake Erie West.
