The COMP Residency Committee is excited to present the eleventh session of the Medical Physics Resident Seminar Series, which will be a talk by Dr. Reid Townsen.
This session will occur on Wednesday, February 09, 2022 at 4:00 PM EST and will be open to all Medical Physics residents across Canada, as well as all COMP resident and graduate student members.
Here is a brief bio of Dr. Reid Townsen.
Reid is a research officer in Metrology at the National Research Council of Canada, and full time developer of the EGSnrc Monte Carlo code. He holds a BSc Honours in Physics and Minor in Mathematics from the University of Victoria. He completed a CAMPEP accredited PhD in medical physics at the University of Victoria, on the topic of improving the efficiency of radiotherapy Monte Carlo simulations. He joined the Ionizing Radiation Standards group within Metrology at NRC in 2016, and his efforts since then with EGSnrc have largely focused on radionuclide decay scheme modelling, and improving the user experience. He has received the COMP Best Talk Award (2017), NRC Intellectual Property Achievement Award – Impact (2020), and NRC President’s Award – Protecting Canadians (2021).
