Residential and Commercial Evictions Moratorium
 
RANCHO MIRAGE, CA - On Monday, March 23, 2020 the City of Rancho Mirage ordered a residential and commercial evictions moratorium in the City of Rancho Mirage. On March 17, 2020 the City Manager issued a "Proclamation of the Existence of a Local State of Emergency" in Rancho Mirage due to COVID-19. This proclamation was ratified by the City Council at the March 19, 2020 meeting.

The moratorium on residential and commercial evictions is effective immediately and will remain in place through May 31, 2020 but may be amended as necessary
 
The provisions of the residential and commercial evictions moratorium will help to ensure:
  • No landlord/lessor can evict a tenant/lessee for nonpayment of rent if financial hardship as a result of COVID-19 is demonstrated
  • Promote fairness in the City's residential rental and commercial real estate markets
  • Prevent avoidable homelessness and business disruption
  • Allow those impacted the most by COVID-19 to stay in their place of residence or business
  • Compliance with the Governors "Shelter in Place" executive order
