All Campus Emergency Water Shutoff Scheduled for Thursday Feb. 1 (5 a.m. - 7 a.m.)

Please be advised that there will be an Emergency Water Shutoff that will affect the entire campus on Thursday, Feb. 1, between the hours of 5 a.m. and 7 a.m.

Facilities Services will direct work crews to permanently replace a faulty water pipe beneath the De La Salle Quad Area that began leaking during the week of Jan. 15. As soon as the leak was detected, an interim repair was made to successfully stop the loss of water.

Crews will arrive on campus at 4 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1 to prepare the site for the repair. Intermittent noise from machinery and equipment may begin at that time, lasting for several hours. The new pipe is expected to be installed by 7 a.m. Once it is, machinery and equipment will continue to be used to backfill the excavated area. The repairs to the area including lawn will continue after the repair is complete.

The access pathways in the immediate vicinity of the De La Salle Quad Area may be blocked during the shutoff time to allow for required work access. Safety signage will be posted in the immediate area. No roadways on campus will be affected.

4 tips for the perfect work order!

  1. Make sure to add your Hall (building location)
  2. Include your room number and the specific room where the work needs to be done (bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, living room, etc.)
  3. Include a picture (if applicable)
  4. After submitting your work order, make sure to prepare your space for Facilities. This looks like clearing off the area and removing any personal items.

Keep Your Space Clean: Don't Forget to Take Out Your Room Trash!

It's a simple task that makes a big difference in maintaining a comfortable and healthy environment.

Here are a few tips to make it easier:

  1. Set a Schedule: Designate a specific day and time each week for trash removal. This way, you won't forget, and it becomes a part of your routine.
  2. Use a Trash Can Liner: Make sure you use a liner in your trash can to prevent spills and make it easier to dispose of the garbage.
  3. Recycle: Separate recyclables from regular waste and use recycling bins if provided. This helps reduce waste and benefits the environment.
  4. Seal the Bag: Before taking it out, be sure to tie the trash bag tightly to prevent any leaks.

Important Reminder: Keep Window Screens On Windows!

Window screens serve several purposes, and it's crucial that we all do our part to ensure they remain in place:

  1. Safety: Window screens act as a barrier, preventing accidents and keeping pests out. They are especially important on higher floors to avoid any potential falls.
  2. Fresh Air: Screens allow you to open your windows to let in fresh air without worrying about insects or debris coming in.
  3. Energy Efficiency: Keeping screens on windows helps maintain a more consistent indoor temperature, which can be more energy-efficient.

If your window screen is missing, make sure to submit a work order! Failure to have a window screen on your window, may result in a damage fine.
