ENERGY-EFFICIENT REBATES TO HELP YOU BEAT THE HEAT
As summer continues to heat up, and you're spending more time in your home, consider some of these energy-efficient tips to help you keep you cool, and save money!
  • Install a smart thermostat, WiFi-enabled thermostats allow you to program while on the go; plus, PWP offers a rebate of up to $60.
  • Upgrade your room AC, choose an ENERGY STAR certified unit and you could receive up to $55 in PWP rebates.
  • Fans are an efficient way to cool off, especially when paired with an AC unit. PWP offers a rebate of up to $35 for ENERGY STAR certified ceiling fans.
  • Check out the online portal for your Home Energy Reports, this tool offers great tips, energy use comparisons and allows you to conduct a virtual home energy audit or update your existing profile if there are any changes.

PWP RECEIVES AA & AA+ RATINGS FROM FITCH STANDARDS
On June 25, PWP received an ‘AA’ rating from Fitch Ratings for the standing electric system revenue bond. Fitch Ratings is a nationally recognized statistical rating organization designated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The organization is a credit rating agency that reviews the viability of investments and assesses an entity’s ability to meet financial commitments.

Fitch also issued an ‘AA’ rating to PWP for its standalone Credit Profile. This ‘AA’ rating demonstrates PWP’s capability to maintain steady and secure financial and operational performance for the near term. The ratings are also used as a guide by investors to understand how much and what kind of debt is held by the issuer.

Additionally, on June 30, PWP was pleased that Fitch affirmed its Water Revenue Bonds at ‘AA+’ and its Ratings Outlook was improved from ‘Stable’ to ‘Positive.’
2019 WATER QUALITY REPORT NOW AVAILABLE
Pasadena Water and Power is pleased to announce that the tap water in Pasadena continues to meet all drinking water quality standards set by the Environmental Protection Agency and the State Water Resources Control Board.

The 2019 Consumer Confidence Report on Water Quality contains important information on water supply sources, drinking water contaminants, and water quality data for the City of Pasadena. The report is now available for reading online and hard copies are available at City Hall and at 150 S. Los Robles, Suite 200.

PWP'S HOME IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM PROVIDES UP TO $4,000 IN FREE UPGRADES
Pasadena residents can receive up to $4,000 in home improvements that reduce energy and water use, helping homeowners save money. For in-person services, vendor will be practicing social distancing and following health and safety guidelines. PWP's Home Improvement Program offers FREE personalized services that include home evaluations, customized savings tips, and the installation of efficient products that may include:
  • High Efficiency Toilets
  • Smart Thermostats
  • Central AC Tune Up
  • LED Light Bulbs

SCAMMERS ARE TARGETING PWP CUSTOMERS – BE VIGILANT
Fraud attempts have been on the rise these past few months, especially during COVID-19, and scammers are targeting utility customers. Here’s a few tips and reminders to help you stay vigilant!

  • PWP will NOT call customers threatening to shutoff service, or demanding payment. Any account status correspondence from PWP will come in the mail, through the U.S Postal Service.
  • PWP will never direct you to purchase a gift card or grocery store purchased debit card to make a payment.

If you have been a victim of a scam, and have already made payment, please report it to Pasadena Police Non-Emergency Dispatch at 626.744.4241.
CONGRATULATIONS TO PWP'S SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
Each year PWP honors two outstanding Pasadena high school seniors with academic scholarships to support their college education. In honor the 100 th Anniversary of the Women’s Right to Vote, this year’s scholarship essay topic revolved around inspiring women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).

PWP is pleased to congratulate both Asia Jota and Julia Cruz, the recipients of the 2020 Educational Scholarship.
Asia, the first-place winner and a senior from Marshall Fundamental, wrote about the Flint water crisis and young activist Gitanjali Rao work in water quality. While Julia, the second-place winner and a senior from Westridge School, wrote about famous marine biologist Dr. Ayana Johnson and her work founding Ocean Collectiv. Congratulations both Asia and Julia!
