SUMMER CONSERVATION TIPS
With the summer months upon us, here are some tips to help you save water and energy this summer:

  • On hot days, avoid using the oven; cook on the stove, use a microwave oven, or grill outside.
  • Monitor for leaks, and repair them as soon as possible to avoid water-waste.
  • Install window coverings to prevent heat gain through your windows.
  • Water early in the morning or late in the evening so evaporation loss is minimal; before 9 AM or after 6 PM only.
  • If you use air conditioning, a ceiling fan will allow you to raise the thermostat setting about 4°F with no reduction in comfort.
  • Apply a 2-inch layer of mulch to planting beds to help slow water evaporation from soil; mulch also helps suppress weeds.
  • Check out PWP's many rebates for appliances and devices that help you be water and energy efficient at PWPweb.com/SaveMoney

Don’t forget that Pasadena’s Summer Watering Schedule is now in effect, and limits outdoor watering to three days a week – although this may still be more than your landscape needs. Ongoing conservation is essential; PWP would like to thank our community for doing their part to conserve water, especially in their gardens and landscapes.
