Free textile collections for charity shop donations

A free home collection service for textile donations is available for residents across borough - making it easier for households to pass on unwanted items.

We’ve partnered with Traid – a charity which collects, sorts and resells clothes – helping to keeps clothes in use for longer and prevent textiles from ending up in landfill. Profits from resale support global projects that aim to improve working conditions and reduce the environmental and social impacts of the textile industry.

Residents can donate clean, wearable clothing, shoes, accessories, and household linen (excluding duvets and pillows). The service is open to all households, including flats, and collections can be booked for a day that suits you.

Architectural tours to launch year of events in RBWM libraries

A series of guided architectural tours at Maidenhead Library will open an exciting year of events across all Royal Borough libraries.

The architectural tours are the first feature of the borough’s Explore Your Library series of events, which will run throughout 2026. Over the coming months, residents will be encouraged to explore their local libraries to learn more about the services available across all 14 branches, from books and digital collections to study spaces, IT support and activities for families, young people and adults. Further updates about all upcoming events will be shared on the RBWM website

This will be followed by an exhibition later in the year, organised in collaboration with the Windsor Photographic Society, compiling a collection of photographs that capture the Grade II listed building’s modernist architecture and the everyday moments.

The launch coincides with the Government’s National Year of Reading 2026, led by the Department for Education and the National Literacy Trust.

Thank you to everyone who braved the heavy rain this week to visit our Health Day in Maidenhead.

Couldn’t make the Health Day? Royal Borough residents can get 12 weeks of free personalised support to stop smoking from Smokefreelife Berkshire
