Fostering in the Royal Borough rated 'good' in all areas

Our fostering agency, Achieving for Children, has been rated good in all areas by Ofsted Their inspection in February showed that there is comprehensive support and benefits for foster carers, who regularly ‘go above and beyond’ for the children in their care and feel well supported by their social workers.

If you are considering fostering, we offer a competitive package of financial, practical and emotional support - including reimbursement of council tax from April 2025 for new and existing foster carers registered with Achieving for Children, London rate child allowance and expert one-to-one support to help you deliver the best possible care.

We know that foster carers come in all forms and we are committed to recognising the vital role that existing and new foster carers play in our community.

Enhanced bus services from April

Residents will benefit from new bus services and additional stops at key locations from 6 April, after we awarded new contracts for local bus services to Carousel buses and Thames Valley Buses

Updates to 13 routes that we support will boost access to health and leisure, schools, businesses and retail across the borough, following your feedback - encouraging more people to take the bus as part of a healthier lifestyle that protects the environment.

You can see the updated timetables and borough map on our Bus routes page

Council tax 2025/26

We've sent out annual council tax bills for 2025/26. If your bill hasn’t arrived by Tuesday 25 March, do let us know.

Please note that if your first instalment is normally due on the first of the month, for April only this instalment will be due on 10 April. All other months will be due on the first of the month as usual and are shown on your bill.

The easiest way to pay your bill is to set up a Direct Debit, giving you the choice between two monthly payment dates and ensuring you never miss a payment. If you already pay by Direct Debit, you won’t need to do anything – we will arrange for your payment to be collected on 10 April. Direct Debits normally due on the 15th of each month will be unaffected.

You can learn more about how we calculate your bill, our budget and the support that is available to help you pay council tax by viewing our Guide to council tax 2025/26

It is important you us as soon as possible if you are not able to pay, so that we can discuss the support and payment options available. Learn more using the links below:
