Care home residents receive COVID-19 vaccine

The majority of residents in care homes across the Royal Borough have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

As well as vaccinating some of our most at-risk residents in local care homes, the Ascot, Maidenhead and Windsor Primary Care Networks have also been delivering the vaccine to residents who fall into one of the other priority groups for vaccination.

Volunteers needed for COVID-19 vaccine rollout

Our local health and care service, Frimley Health and Care, is looking for volunteers to help with the COVID-19 vaccination programme rollout. If you’d like to volunteer, please email: [email protected].
Find out about our COVID-19 response

You’re invited to watch the first public meeting of our COVID-19 Outbreak Engagement Board on Monday 18 January at 2.30pm.

The board, made up of our health, communications, housing and environment specialists, and councillors, monitors our Local Outbreak Plan to make sure our communications and engagement with the local community, reflect what’s happening with the virus in our area and the action people need to take.

These meetings take place virtually on a monthly basis, starting on Monday 18 January, then Monday 15 February and Monday 15 March at 2.30pm.

You can watch the first meeting on our YouTube channel. The meeting will appear on our YouTube page once it’s started – you may need to refresh your screen to see it. The meetings are also being recorded so if you miss them, you can watch them at your leisure.
Update on skate parks and playgrounds

The skate parks at Desborough Park and Kidwells Park in Maidenhead and Vansittart Recreation Ground in Windsor, are currently closed under lockdown restrictions, as the Government classes them as sports and exercise venues.

Playgrounds are allowed to remain open at this time, providing parents and children do not mix with other households and social distancing is maintained. If your local playground is busy when you arrive, come back at a quieter time.

If you’re unsure about the Government’s lockdown restrictions for sports and exercise, see the restrictions in full here.
2021/22 budget public consultation

We are consulting on our draft budget for the next financial year. The draft budget sets out how your council tax will be spent and how we invest in services for you.

If you want to get involved and have your say, click here.

You may have received a letter with information about the budget as we sent out a random sample of letters to residents explaining how they can get involved in the consultation.

The consultation responses will be reviewed and taken into account when the budget is proposed at Cabinet on Thursday 4 February. The consultation closes on Friday 29 January.
Single person council tax discount review

Residents who live alone are entitled to apply for a single person council tax discount.

Like other council’s, we carry out regular reviews to ensure that everyone who is receiving the single person discount is still entitled to it.

If you are currently claiming the single person council tax discount, you will soon receive a letter providing you with a PIN to complete an online form, or asking you to return a paper form within 14 days. This process is intended to confirm that you are eligible for the single person discount.

We are carrying out this review in partnership with specialist local government data solutions provider, Datatank.

For more information and to complete the online form, click here.

We regularly hold consultations to get your views on proposals within the Royal Borough.

Responding to our consultations and giving your feedback is the best way to ensure your views are heard.
