Resilient Columbus is a task force of local leaders who address the issues of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and build resiliency in Columbus County. Our mission is to promote resilience in Columbus County through the education and engagement of community members regarding the life-long impacts of adverse childhood experiences.

The Resilient Columbus Steering Committee meets every first Wednesday via zoom at 2:00 p.m.

The Resilient Columbus Coalition meets every fourth Tuesday via zoom at 10:00 a.m.

Gratitude and Resilience


In November, 20 Minutes for the NEXT 20 Years of Your LIFE, a video highlighting Oprah Winfrey, was shared with the Resilient Columbus Coalition. The video gave advice on self-care, gratitude and resilience.

On December 1, a Ted Talk with Charles Hunt was shared with the Resilient Columbus Steering Committee. What Trauma taught me about Resilience was a very informative message about his life's journey, overcoming trauma and being resilient.

RESILIENCE FILM
The Resilient Columbus coalition, in conjunction with Columbus County Partnership of Children (Smart Start), partnered with the local faith community on November 18, to host a screening of the film, Resilience: The Biology of Stress and The Science of Hope. The landmark Kaiser Permanente ACEs Study is highlighted in the film, along with Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, Surgeon General of California.
Future screenings are planned.

Columbus County Board of Education
The school board approved on November 8, 2021 for Resilient Columbus to share marketing resources with students and their families.

Resilient Columbus provided Columbus County Board of Education with a Wellness Day Training Opportunity. Below is the agenda for Take the Challenge. The interactive agenda guided the staff of the county schools system through exercises in relaxation, self-care, trauma and resilience.

Take the Challenge of becoming a Trauma-Informed school. What would that look like?

 
5.                  Ways to Reduce Stress in your Life
Take the Challenge to find your inner strength and resilience. How do you deal with your stressful life?

6.                  Never Too Old to Dance [Can't Stop the Feeling!]
Take the Challenge and play the video two times and dance along.
