What's Happening


  • *NEW* Last week, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell announced that he will issue an Executive Order to extend Seattle’s residential eviction moratorium and small business and non-profit commercial tenant eviction moratorium for an additional 30 days until February 14. Find more information here.

  • *NEW* Residential households in the U.S. can now order one set of 4 free at-home tests from USPS.com. Here’s what you need to know about your order:
  • Limit of one order per residential address
  • One order includes 4 individual rapid antigen COVID-19 tests
  • Orders will ship free starting in late January
  • Fill in this form with your contact and shipping information to order your tests.

  • On Monday December 27th, the CDC made some changes to recommendations for isolation for people with COVID-19. For all people who test positive, regardless of vaccination status, the CDC has shortened the recommended time for isolation from 10 days to five days.
  • If you have no symptoms, or your symptoms are improving after five days, you can leave your house. If you have a fever, stay home until your fever goes away.
  • You should continue to wear a high-quality, well-fitting mask around others for five additional days.
  • High-quality and well-fitting masks are essential and are described here.

According to the CDC, this change was made because data demonstrates that the majority of COVID transmission occurs early in the course of illness. The CDC states that most transmission occurs in the 1-2 days prior to onset of symptoms and the 2-3 days after onset of symptoms. Worker and Business Resources

  • *NEW* The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture is now accepting applications for the 2023 CityArtist program. CityArtist supports Seattle-based individual artists/curators in the research, development, and presentation of their work. The 2023 application is open to dancers/choreographers, musicians/composers or theater makers (including playwriters).

Artists who practice traditional/ethnic and multi-disciplinary art forms may also apply. See guidelines for details. Apply here by 5pm (PT) on April 20th, 2022. Join OED for the following online program overview workshops:

  • Crosscut is asking business owners and downtown residents to take a survey because polling, surveys and conversations online have indicated that there are concerns about the future of Downtown Seattle. With new city leadership in the Mayor's office, the city attorney’s office and two at-large seats on council, what does the future hold for downtown? What reporting would be most useful to you? What do you want — what gives you anxiety, what gives you hope or makes you excited?

Your answers to this survey will help lay the foundation for Crosscut’s upcoming reporting. Take the survey here for business owners and here for downtown residents.

  • Applications are now open for 4Culture's Recovery Fund for Individuals. The fund will offer between $1,000 and $12,000 to eligible cultural producers who have been financially impacted by the pandemic, as they recuperate, adapt, and advance their practice. An applicant's primary occupation must be within 4Culture’s program areas of heritage, historic preservation, art, or public art to be considered. Click here to learn more and apply. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, February 2 at 5:00 pm PST.

Join 4Culture this month for a series of workshops to meet program managers, walk through the application, have your questions answered, and hear from other cultural producers.

  • The Merchant Maverick Opportunity Grant Program for AAPI-Owned Restaurants opened on January 3, 2022. Its sole purpose is to extend financial opportunities to business owners who otherwise have trouble accessing traditional financing. This grant program will award 10, $10,000 grants to Asian and Pacific Islanders who are American citizens and own a restaurant or foodservice business. The program only accepts 5,000 applications total, and small businesses can click here for more information.
Other Neighborhood Updates

*NEW* Gallery 110 invites Black, Indigenous and other Artists of Color to apply to become members of their Pioneer Square Artist Collective. Gallery 110 will award up to seven fully funded two-year memberships this year with the help of Elisheba Johnson, Wa Na Wari Curator,as the external juror.

In addition to a fully funded membership, finalists will receive gallery representation and mentoring as a professional fine artist, a website artist page, a solo exhibition within 24 months, and the opportunity to participate in gallery decision making and operations as a full member-owner.

  • The Pioneer Square Business Owners & Managers Facebook group is an opportunity for business owners and retailers to participate in an online forum and share resources, support, and stories. We invite you to join group and connect with other neighborhood businesses. Click here to join the Pioneer Square Business Owners and Managers Facebook page.

  • The Alliance is coordinating with the Butler Garage on 114 James Street, to provide free parking on Saturdays throughout the year. Park for free every Saturday with a dated proof of purchase from a Pioneer Square business. Free parking is available from 11am to 8pm each Saturday in 2022.
