Business Retention & Expansion Visits

We met with Dr. Kelly Kirk of Kirk Veterinary Service in Orleans to discuss her recent expansion and celebrate an incredible milestone — 30 years of dedicated service to our community.

We also connected with Cheryl Gugel, owner of 50 Flavs Bakery, to hear about their success and growth since opening last April. It’s inspiring to see local businesses thriving!

Please join the Orange County Economic Development Partnership virtually on Tuesday, March 31st from 12-1pm to hear from Indiana University Professor Justin Ross regarding the impacts of Indiana's Property Tax Reform on Orange County's local government and businesses.

This meeting is being offered virtually, and a calendar invite will be sent upon receiving your RSVP. Feel free to share this information with anyone who may be interested in or may benefit from learning more about this topic.

Justin Ross is a public finance economist specializing in state and local tax policy. Ross joined the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs in 2008 and teaches public revenue theory, public managerial economics, and benefit-cost analysis. He is a two-time recipient of IU's Trustees Teaching award, in 2013 and 2009. He currently serves as director of the Ph.D. in Public Affairs and Joint Ph.D. in Public Policy Programs.

Ross's primary research interests include property tax-related issues such as assessment and zoning. His published works explore local governments' use and access to the property tax by examining how it affects the politics, fiscal capacity, land use regulation, and community decisions.
