Behind Every Research Award Lies an Opportunity to Improve Lives

Earlier this week, we announced that UC Davis received $953 million in external research awards in fiscal year 2025-26 to advance health care, food security, energy solutions, education and more.

Amid significant funding uncertainty and regulatory change, total awards remained close to the previous year’s level — a testament to the ingenuity and passion of our faculty and staff.

These investments reflect confidence in our researchers’ deep expertise, unique collaborations and record of delivering meaningful insights and solutions.

Our newly released annual report brings this impact to life and highlights key initiatives that expand our research capabilities.

Together, we are advancing discoveries and innovations that improve lives, strengthen communities, fuel the economy and build a more sustainable future.

How to Demonstrate Gold Standard Science in Your Next Grant Proposal

In a 2025 executive order, the federal government announced expectations of Gold Standard Science (GSS) for all federally supported research. As federal agencies integrate GSS principles into the grants process, we recommend that investigators include clear statements in their proposals to any federal agency describing how their proposed work aligns with GSS.

New UC Davis Center Unites Human and Veterinary Medicine to Advance Brain Tumor Care

Some of the most difficult cancers to treat occur in the brain. Despite decades of research, outcomes for many children, adults and companion animals with aggressive brain tumors have improved little. UC Davis is bringing together experts from human and veterinary medicine to help change that trajectory.
