December 23, 2015
The spirit of giving in our community is incredible.

Sources Langley Food Bank was living a nightmare a week ago, when thieves stole $1,000 worth of gift cards, took our one-tonne delivery van from its parking spot, used its gas card to buy $1,300 of diesel, then abandoned it wrecked beyond repair. To top that off, the transmission on our other van blew. All in the span of three days.

We were scared. 600 people would come through our doors in two days' time - and they would be seeking food, supplies and holiday cheer. The problem was we needed a truck. Without one, we couldn't get food from our donors to your neighbours. We asked the community for help. And the community responded.

The goodwill came pouring in, as individuals, organizations and companies called us without pause, offering donations of cash, vehicles and more! In less than 24 hours, more than $20,000 came through our doors, from those who heard our plea and wanted to help. We were overwhelmed with gratitude. We were brought to tears.

Food banks exist to help community members in need. When our food bank was in need, the community helped us. Thank you for being our Santa this Christmas. We are able to recover from our losses because of you. We are able to help others because of you. We wished for a truck and you made our wish come true. Thank you.

We want to extend a special thank-you to these businesses for gifting us a one-tonne truck to replace the one we lost:
