From the SOURCES team and myself, I would like to thank everyone who makes SOURCES the organization we are today - our volunteers, donors, funders and community friends. Your ongoing generosity, contributions and support to SOURCES and the communities we serve are the backbone of social wellness for our community.
This summer, British Columbians witnessed a shift in policy and legislative agenda. With an increased focus on important social matters - such as poverty reduction, child care, substance use and mental health services, and homelessness prevention - we are optimistic for the future of our programs and services. Indeed, there is still much work to do. However, through this new energy, we look forward to improving the lives of the people we serve in the years to come.
During my recent travels to Southeast Asia, I had the opportunity to connect with organizations that assisted marginalized groups. My trip served as a deep reminder of vulnerable peoples and the precarious lives they lead. Because of this, I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to our staff and volunteers:
To our team south of the Fraser: Cloverdale, Ladner, Langley, South Surrey, Surrey and White Rock; and to our team up North: Dawson Creek, Fort St. James, Fort St. John, Fort Nelson, Prince George and Terrace.
You make a difference in the lives of so many, and provide a sense of stability for those who need it most.
Our organization continues to expand as we respond to the growing needs of the public. Next year, SOURCES will be celebrating its 40th anniversary. Stay tuned as we celebrate 40 years of Social Wellness for our Community in 2018.
May your holidays be warm, merry and bright. All the best for the new year.
