UPDATE: The Great Canadian Giving Challenge

Back in June, Sources Volunteer Wheels Program participated in the Great Canadian Giving Challenge for the chance to win a $10K donation. Although we did not win the final draw, we received an incredible amount of support! Thank you for your continuous support. Read more about the Challenge's finale here.
Life Skills Resource Centre Celebrates Canada150

Sources Life Skills Resource Centre has a reputation of hosting fun events. Read more about how Life Skills participants got an excellent start to Canada 150 at their Canada Day Dance & Celebration here.
Young Entrepreneurs (YE) Donate $670 to SOURCES

Nothing says summer like a lemonade stand. That is what the kids at YE Learning Labs set up to practice their customer service and marketing skills-not to mention doing so with a social purpose! All the funds raised during their Lemonade Stand Challenge went to Nicolas' Birthday Club to help less fortunate children in our community. Read more here.
Infant Development Program (IDP) Picnics in the Park

Families and IDP staff gathered at Bear Creek Park on July 26 for their annual Summer Picnic. There were arts and crafts, water toys, live music, cake, and a ride on the Bear Creek Park Train! To see photos from the event, click here. Keep your eyes peeled for a blog post!
Windsor Meats Donates $800 to Sources WR/SS Food Bank

Windsor Meats Vancouver celebrated the grand opening of their Surrey location (Beast & Brine) with a pig roast on August 12. They donated all proceeds to our White Rock/South Surrey Food Bank -- $800 to be exact! Thank you, Windsor Meats!

Celebrating Community Living Month
   
Welcome back to a new edition of Resources! We hope everyone had a safe and fun summer. Did you know that Community Living Month is just around the corner?  Next month will mark the 15th annual Community Living Month in British Columbia. We invite you to join with us to raise awareness and celebrate people with developmental disabilities as valuable and contributing members of society.
 
In this edition of Resources, we share some highlights from SOURCES' summer and what you can expect in the Fall. We encourage you to get involved in some of these upcoming events that advocate for social wellness for our community. Happy reading!

On August 17, SOURCES held its annual Volunteer Appreciation BBQ at Campbell Valley Regional Park. About 100 Volunteers and Volunteer Supporters came together to celebrate charity, selflessness and altruism. Read more about the BBQ here, and look at event photos here

Join SOURCES as we kick off Community Living Month (October) at insideOUT! insideOUT is a brand new, family-friendly SOURCES fundraiser. Proceeds will provide experiences of self-expression and creativity for our clients. This event will feature pieces by community artists, a children's gallery, a silent auction, a raffle and light refreshments. Entry is by donation. Bring a resume a meet with over 40 employers from various industries!  Sources Cloverdale and White Rock WorkBC Employment Services Centres are joining forces with three other Surrey WorkBC Centres and the City for Surrey to present the annual Get Surrey Working Hiring Fair! This event is wheelchair accessible and ASL interpreters will be on-site.
Admission is FREE. Walk-ins are welcome but pre-registration is strongly recommended.
