Think North Baton Rouge can't attract major retailers or
grocery stores? Think again

BY TERRY L. JONES | Staff writer for the Advocate Feb 18, 2020

The Baton Rouge North Economic Development District is getting some outside help from an Alabama-based firm that specializes in attracting retail businesses to distressed communities.

An important component of the work Retail Strategies will do is conduct research to determine how much north Baton Rouge is losing annually in consumer spending because of the lack of quality retail in the area, forcing its residents to travel to other parts of the city for their purchases.

"In envisioning a grocery store here, this leakage report will help us prove there is capital here to spend in north Baton Rouge," said BRNEDD Executive Director Jerry Jones.  Click here for the full story.

Navigating the Future Amidst COVID-19

Local businesses the North Baton Rouge area are facing the threat of significantly reduced foot traffic and sales, due to everchanging protocol and regulations regarding COVID-19.

We’re living in unprecedented times, but for many, business must go on. As a small business owner, it’s hard to know where to turn and exactly how to proceed. Through our partnership with Retail Strategies they have put together a list of federal resources for small businesses, as well as marketing strategies that will allow your business the opportunity to meet your consumers in the digital space.
