The Indiana Non-Public Education Association is proud to be the voice of non-public schools at the Indiana Statehouse! Your school/center is a member of INPEA and we are stepping up our efforts to provide content geared towards early childhood educators. Our goal is to send a quarterly newsletter of curated content that provides timely and helpful information to you.

Transition to Kindergarten Summit

Join early learning educators and administrators for the virtual Transition to Kindergarten Summit on Friday, December 6, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. ET. Presenters will discuss the new Kindergarten Transition Model and Self-Assessment, data sharing, and inclusion. Registration is required. Contact IDOE’s Office of Kindergarten Readiness with any questions at kreadiness@doe.in.gov. 

Indiana Learning Lab Resources

The Indiana Learning Lab is funded by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) and provides teaching and learning support for educators and families. This support includes access to teaching experts via live chat, weekly live workshops, and an open community forum to collaborate with others across the state of Indiana. There is no cost to utilize the Indiana Learning Lab. 

Find the Collections link at the top of the page. Once you’ve clicked on that link, go to the Filter Collections box and select tags under Audience to filter the resources that are most relevant to you. There is an Early Learning tag that will show you various tools and resources geared towards your work. You can also filter Resources by subject area and type. 

Early Childhood Teacher Apprenticeship Program

Indiana’s Early Childhood Educator Registered Teacher Apprenticeship Program is designed to provide increased entry points into the field and strengthen the career pathways for educators by leveraging competency-based, job-embedded workforce models to make careers in early childhood education more appealing for students. It is an elective program that helps current high school students meet their Graduation Pathway requirements. It also allows students the opportunity to work in an early care and education environment, gain valuable hands-on experience, and earn college credits.

Stay Informed! 

January marks the beginning of a new legislative session of the Indiana General Assembly and a new administration in Washington, DC. INPEA will monitor and when necessary, engage in state legislation that pertains to early learning and non-public schools. We will send out action alerts and updates when we need our member schools and stakeholders to reach out to their legislators. Be sure to follow INPEA on social media to stay in the loop. You can visit our Legislative Action Center to find additional information.
