Ramadan Mubarak- Blessed Ramadan!

Ramadan Mubarak or “blessed Ramadan” to all who are observing the Islamic lunar month of fasting, which began on March 23rd and lasts until April 20th. Muslims in the US and throughout the world are commemorating the month--in which Muslims believe the Quran was first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad--through fasting, prayer and charity, as well as communal gatherings with family, friends and neighbors.

ING has a number of free resources on Ramadan for all types of educators, which are being downloaded all across the United States, and in Europe and Asia.

Muslim Women: Past, Present & Future

New Videos and Lesson Plans

We are pleased to announce the release of new ING videos and lesson plans designed to bring attention to the rights, struggles, and achievements of Muslim women beginning in the 7th century with the advent of Islam and continuing into the 21st century to ensure that their challenges and contributions are accurately represented in classroom discussions about Muslim women.

The material is divided into two parts:

*The first part features Dr. Mahjabeen Dhala who discusses “Muslim Women’s Rights & Challenges in History & Today.”

*The second part features Dr. Daisy Khan who discusses “Notable Muslim Women Today.”

Accompanying the videos are lesson plans for educators which include video transcripts, classroom discussion questions and activities based on the videos, as well as additional resources, including articles and videos.

Please share these lesson plans with educators and refer to them for your own use. You can read and download the lesson plans here.

*These new lesson plans expand on our existing online curriculum titled Muslim Women Beyond the Stereotypes, which is taught by educators across the country.
