Dear friend,

This past Sunday, we held our first-ever virtual Seder with over 600 people participating from their homes. Despite the global pandemic preventing us from joining together in-person, we still came together, returning to an age-old ritual in an entirely new way.

Bubbies and Zeydies in faraway cities watched with their kids and grandkids as the Shule Giml class sang the four questions in Yiddish. Community members who have moved to other states and countries reconnected in celebration. From our own kitchens and living rooms, we raised our glasses in unison, hid the afikomen, sang Dayenu, and reflected on what it means to work towards collective liberation.

This was my first time attending a BWC seder. My role was to help those who have been holding and crafting this ritual for years bring it into our new virtual reality. Even with all of the planning and testing, I could never have imagined how much warmth could come through over a video call. The Seder came to an end with everyone unmuted, calling out in collective joyous noise. As people spontaneously clapped, sang, and yelled their hellos, my heart overflowed.

Thank you to all of you who were able to join, who made your love for this community and dedication to a better world so apparent.

Tonight, as we move through the story of our ancestors' journey from bondage to liberation, let us remember the many Seders that have taken place during and despite tough times. Next year, together again!

Whether you are celebrating Seder with loved ones at home, online, or on your own, we invite you to use our Haggadah with links to music, our Seder plate guide, and our community recipe book. Visit circleboston.org/passover for our full Passover package.
A copy of the recorded Seder will be sent to all who registered and to dues-paying members. If you would like a recording of the readers to watch and follow along with, please contact michelle@circleboston.org or consider becoming a member .

From all of us at BWC, we wish you and your loved ones a zissen Peysakh, a sweet, joyful, meaningful and healthy Passover.

With love and solidarity,
Madeleine Jackman, Communications Manager
