Our delegates and senators will take their seats at the General Assembly on Wednesday, January 8.
The Senate has pledged to take up the extreme abortion amendment on Day 1 and the House of Delegates is also poised for rapid action after the P&E Committee (Privileges and Elections for Constitutional Amendments) reported the deadly amendment out of committee on November 13.
As of now, all indicators are that this will pass both chambers early in the 2025 session.
There is hope to thwart this if we engage.
Here are some effective steps you can take:
-
Pray daily against this evil effort to amend the Constitution of Virginia in a way that enshrines more abortion than Roe ever allowed; crushes parental rights; forces taxpayers to fund abortion; shields malfeasant providers and places women and children at unprecedented risk.
-
Be present in the General Assembly so that our legislators know we are watching and expecting them to do what is best. There are two opportunities:
-
Be present in the hallways and galleries on the opening days of the session. More information and registration for January 8, 9, 10 can be found here.
-
Participate in Virginia Pro-Life Day 2025 on January 29. Registration is open and more information is found here.
If you cannot be present, consider signing a letter and sending it to your representatives.
Sample copies are available in the narthex as well as on our parish website or on the button below. Don't know who your representatives are?
This website makes it very easy. Just input your home address.

Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness,
but instead expose them. Ephesians 5:11
Do something lest your silence imply consent!
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
