Dear Pro-Life Friend,
Welcome to Respect Life Ministry's inaugural monthly e-newsletter!
Respect Life Ministry has been going through many changes lately, not least of all the transition to working remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The good news is that we're launching online classes next week for our pregnancy help center clients. We're excited to continue supporting pregnant women and mothers during this difficult time.
I want to mention two very important pro-life events that occurred in the Church last week: the Solemnity of the Annunciation and the 25th Anniversary of
Evangelium Vitae
.
In celebrating the moment in which Mary said yes to LIFE, combined with the gift of St. John Paul II's encyclical on the Gospel of Life,
Pope Francis
offered the following message for us:
|
|
|
"The Gospel of life lies at the heart of Christ’s message, and resonates in a particular way in the current context of a pandemic that threatens the human family.
With gratitude I call to mind the quiet witness of the many people who today are doing all they can to help the sick, elderly, poor and lonely. They are putting the Gospel of life into practice, like Mary who accepted the angel’s message and then went to visit her elderly kinswoman Elizabeth.
The life we are asked to promote and protect is no abstract idea, but becomes real flesh and blood in the unborn child, the terminally ill, the refugee and the outcast.
The Church feels in the depths of her heart every threat to human life, for each person is unique and unrepeatable, in need of solidarity and fraternal love.
Today, I renew the appeal made by Saint John Paul II, to 'respect, protect, love and serve life, every human life! Only in this way will you find justice, development, freedom, peace and happiness!' (
Evangelium Vitae
, 5)."

|
What a beautiful way for us to think about this time: as an opportunity to say "yes" to God in how we respond to this crisis, and "
respect, protect, love and serve life, every human life
!"
But how can we do this while confined to our homes?
I've compiled some FREE resources to help you:
- Stay informed & educate yourselves
- Promote & care for life
- and PRAY!
Please read, use, and share this email. Your friends, family, and neighbors can also

As we remember
St. John Paul II
's passing from this world 15 years ago today, let us seek his intercession for our ministry and the whole world. May the Lord grant you and your family a blessed Holy Week and an Easter full of peace and joy.
For Life,
Rebecca

In his encyclical, Pope John Paul II called for a “new feminism”—“new” in the sense of the radical novelty of Christianity itself, not a reactionary Christian answer to secular feminism.
